Finally!!!!! A post that isn’t about wasting time, errr, running, that I can comment on!!!!
Now, for all you people that are slaggin’ my teenage-melodrama watching friend, I offer up this little tidbit: Remember when “The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle” came out, and everyone was still on the Elton John/Steely Dan tip? Rock critics loved it, but the public was still into guys dressing like Dr. Frank-n-furter and singing songs about space. Then came “Born to Run”, and lo and behold - Springsteen is the savior of rock n’ roll.
While Josh Schwartz is no Boss, he is writing the best new show on television. Critically acclaimed, but yet to captivate the nation. And while I may be a bit biased on the subject of teenage-melodrama, you’d have to be made of wood and/or some kind of derelict not to recognize the significance of both the “Gossip Girl” the tv show and “Gossip Girl” the novelization.
Trust me - two years time, “Gossip Girl” will be the new “Veronica Mars.” Only better. Bigger than Buffy, more socially significant than “The O.C.”, and more captivating than the “Who shot JR?” cliffhanger of so many years ago.
You heard it hear first. Or twenty first, depending on what rags you read.
Now, how ’bout tht Blair Waldorff? Can you believe what she did to Serena last week?!?!?! Can’t wait for tonight!
The question isn’t about whether gossip girl is brilliant, the question is why Patrick, who used to “hate on”, these shows is suddenly in love with this one….?????
