Getting ready for a big day out
A new fathers’ day tradition. My dad started a habit of shaving in the car years ago (with the Remington cordless he’s using here that I bought him for Christmas 20-odd years ago) when we still lived in the Twin Cities during his commutes to the West Publishing Company. The razor was kept in the Kleenex box near the driver’s seat and there was always an opportunity to reflect on the day for the 5-10 minutes while the tinny din dominated the audible range in the car. Sunday we went out for a delicious brunch with mimosas, belinis, and screwdrivers, and got back in time to play with my parents’ new puppy, Flora. It’s a little late in coming but happy fathers’ day, Dad!
