The born leader

Normally, I don’t think of myself as a leader. Today as I was stuck
working from home sick, trying to kill time between spoonfuls of cough
syrup with codeine (sweet Jesus why is this the first time in my life
I’ve used this stuff?), my attention was drawn as it so often is
during the summer months, to href="http://underdogseattle.com/DOTL/index.asp">Drinks on the
Links. The big question this year is whether we would have team
T-shirts. I’ll never forget Chico’s Bail Bonds from the last
season. Not because they got way too drunk and puked in the 18th hole,
were outstanding athletes, or because I even met anyone on their
team. But they had team t-shirts!

My teammate, Beth, and I have been the principal T-shirt design
contributors. This makes sense since href="http://www.thingydings.com/">she does this
semi-professionally and I like to use my 3d modeling
program. After a couple searches I came up with a company that looks
like they can do what we need for a reasonable price and then
contacted Beth about this. When we started talking about the print
shop was when I realized my leadership potential. Beth: “Yeah, so that
place is right near me and I could probably go there.” Me: “Huh?
Isn’t it downtown by the market?” Beth: “No, I think it’s just down
the street.” And she was right - it is right by where she lives.

Creating work that is instantly (or serendipitously) delegatable to
others == transcendent leadership.
