21st Century Digital Boy

Welcome to the 21st century - you’re going to have to href="http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#single-file-checkout">wait
another hundred years if you think the state of the art in open
source RCS should support checking out a single file, though. How is
this not the stupidest idea ever? Wait - the stupidest idea ever is
that it
wouldn’t be that hard but nobody has ever asked for it.
Yeah,
sure, on both counts.

I want to check out a book. And a bowl of soup!

Now those are some requests I can believe have never been raised! Seriously, though, if the goal of subversion was to replace CVS, could they not have contemplated making it a little more feature rich? The subversion users thread is also annoying. Person X posts to the group the one item which is in a big red box on the FAQ. Support guy Y replies saying “Hmm, never heard that one.”

Anyway - since perforce is offered gratis for OSS project management, IMO, one would have to be braindead, RMS, or just not willing to go through their application process to choose it for any significant project. I just wish I could get that for my personal use, too.
